This book was like a warm, nurturing soup for the soul, filling me up with its tale of frivolity and friendship. Against a glamourous backdrop of 1920s high society, mischievous Lady Sylvia and talented seamstress Myrtle flout traditional class distinctions and become co-conspirators united by their passion for creativity. A smattering of lavish fashion design illustrations throughout adorns the story with beautiful period detail, and truly transports you back in time. Resist the temptation, at first glance, to dismiss this book as being all insubstantial glitter and frills – a much more adventurous and uplifting plot lies just beneath its sparkly façade.
