Author description

PETER McCALLUM is Associate Professor at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and Chair of the Academic Board of the University of Sydney. He has published on the music of Beethoven, Boulez and the classical era, and also reviews classical music for The Sydney Morning Herald. He has had a long association with the Conservatorium, as both a student (1972-75) and staff member (since 1985), and was Assistant Principal and Head of School from 1996 to 2003...JULIE SIMONDS is a music editor, broadcaster, composer and music arranger. She was the music editor of the ABC and Symphony Australia, President of the Fellowship of Australian Composers and Special Projects Administrator at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Julie is a breakfast radio presenter with Fine Music 102.5. Her current position in the Conservatorium is Assistant Manager (Music Program), Conservatorium High School.
